I am preparing to sell my business. I have given the prospecitve buyer copies of income statement and tax returns. He now wants me to send a copy of my quickbook records to bookkeeper. Is this a valid request.

As part of the due diligence request, the buyer is entitled to see not just income statements and tax returns, but they are allowed to inspect the actual books of the business as well to determine if the profits and losses and expenses are what were claimed. This is quite normal for someone conducting their due diligence before business purchase.
