rgb02a :

When you close out of Quicken, periodically it will ask you to back up your data. Have you backed up your data recently? If so, you are able to open saved file and all of your data should be there through 7/2/12 or when you last backed up the file. Be sure to wait to back up your current file when exiting, so that you don't save the file with information only up to 3/2011 over the more updated files.

Customer :

I open up Quicken. Where do I find "save file"? The last time I was reminded to back up was probably 10 days ago.

rgb02a :

You should be able to go to "file" and then "Open or Restore Company..." or something similar depending on the version. It should direct you to where it has saved all of the backup files. This is typically in a separate folder called "Backup" or something similar.

rgb02a :
  • Click on File > Backup and Restore > Restore from Backup File

  • Browse your computer to find the backup file you want to restore. The Quicken backup file has the extension .QDF-Backup.
  • Double-click on the Quicken backup file name. A pop-up window, Restore from backup file, will open. You will need to browse to a location to save the Quicken data file. Be sure it is a location on the local hard drive.

  • Note: In Quicken 2010 and newer, you cannot open your backup file directly. In the File > Open Quicken File window, backup files are not visible.

Restore a Quicken data file from the Web:

    1. Select the File menu and select Restore or Restore Backup File > Browse Online Backup.
    2. A dialog lists the last 90 days of backups you have made of each Quicken data file that you are backing up online. The file with the most recent date and time stamp is the most recently backed up data file. Select the data file you want to restore, and click OK.
    3. To close the confirmation message that Quicken displays when your files are restored, click OK.
    4. To open the file you restored, select the File menu and select Open.
    Customer :

do not charge me for this service--the answer that you provided was of no help. Jane. D.Ker

    rgb02a :

I will opt out of the question so that someone else might be able to help you. I was only trying to help. Please remove negative feedback. Restoring a backup file has worked for me in the past and is not "bad advice" by any stretch of the imagination.
