i was just trying to figure out the difference between a status hearing and a evidentiary hearing
JA: Family law varies by state. What state are you in?
Customer: florida
JA: Have you talked to a lawyer yet?
Customer: yes my son have one and he was sentence to 7 years so now the state granted him a status hearing then i guess the evidentiary will come later

A status hearing is more procedural, and not substantive in nature. Evidentiary is substantive where the court may consider the merits of the case including witnesses and physical evidence.
