Customer Question

GEORGIA LAW
MY HUSBAND WAS DIVORCED IN 2014 JANUARY....
MY HUSBAND WAS DIVORCED IN 2014 JANUARY. HE WAS ORDERED TO PAY ALIMONY OF $1500.00 PER MONTH FOR 3 YEARS SO THE EX WIFE COULD GET ON HER FEET. IN NOVEMBER 2014 THE EX WIFE WAS REMARRIED IN A EXPENSIVE CEREMONY. THE ATTORNEY TOLD US TO STOP ALIMONY THAT MONTH SINCE GEORGIA LAW STATES THAT IT ISABOLISHED UPON REMARRIAGE WITHOUT MODIFICATION. WE FILED IN OCTOBER 2015 FOR MODIFICATION OF CHILD SUPPORT SINCE MY HUSBANDS OLDEST CHILD ALREADY TURNED 18 IN FEB 2015.
ON FRIDAY IN GEORGIA COURT WITH A DIFFERENT JUDGE PRESIDING, THIS JUDGE SAID MY HUSBAND SHOULD HAVE CONTINUED TO PAY ALIMONY AND THAT THE WORDING IS A LUMP SUM BUT IT WAS NOT. ALSO THE EX-WIFE HAD A GROSS OF $28,000 BUT CLAIMS SHE PAID HER CURRENT HUSBAND HALF OF THAT. IS THAT WRONG TOO? THEY ARE GOING BY MY HUSBAND'S GROSS.

Was the judge making an offhand comment, or was that a ruling that was put in the court order? Had good ex-wife filed an enforcement action fit alimony? How did the issue come up?
