I have a girlfriend, Cyndi, who has been with her partner 24

Customer Question

good afternoon. I have a girlfriend, Cyndi, who has been with her partner 24 years. She lives in a very rural area, no internet and her phone stinks. Her and her man have been together for 24 years. They have 2 children, boys, aged 22 and 20. They are currently living together in a home that his father owns. She is wondering if she qualifies for palimony. She has no car, no job, no nothing... does she qualify for anything...

Unfortunately, Florida does not have "palimony". Florida law only authorizes alimony or spousal support upon the end of a legal marriage. Florida also does not recognize common law marriage. So if she has never been married to her partner, she is not entitled to anything from him legally.
