This is Samuel and I will discuss this and provide you information in this regard

No. Only the ex spouse is responsible for the alimony. However, that spouse may not self impoverish so as to avoid any payments. And in that regard, if that happens the spouse is still responsible for payment and the court can hold the spouse in contempt for non payment.
