When comparing our income in a divorce I work as an independent

Customer Question

When comparing our income in a divorce I work as an independent contractor, him an employee and he receives a military pension....will they compare our gross salaries on tax returns? Is my gross taxable income to be compared with his gross taxable income? My checks look larger every month, but after expenses that we have written off for years, my checks are actually smaller....
