I came over to the states on a k1 fiancé visa to marry the mother of my daughter. Unfortunately it didn't work out as planned and we didn't get married. I now have to return to Ireland in less than a month. My question is can I find a place that specializes in family mediation in Ohio. I want to sort out parental rights and visitation. I would rather avoid serving papers.

Hello there

-

The success of any mediation will be her willingness to participate in that mediation -- you realize that is is voluntary unless you apply for visitation / access rights through your local county family court (the court can then force mediation). That being said, what county are you in there in Ohio and I may be able to direct you to some mediation services there.

cuyohoga county.

Hello again Robbie --

-

Here are some links to several mediation services in your county area:

-

Healthy Father Collaboration: http://www.neofathering.net/custody_mediation_program.asp

-

Here is another that is run through the county itself: http://ja.cuyahogacounty.us/en-US/mediation-new.aspx

-

Here is a list of mediators by county -- if you scroll down a bit there are many listings for family mediators in Cuyahoga County: http://www.manomediate.org/memberlist.htm

-

My suggestion is to try and get mother's cooperation and call several of them to see who offers the least expensive services for your issues that you need to resolve. If you can come to an agreement between you then you should not have to go to court. Please let me know if you have further questions.
