I do not have any family or close friends to "enforce" my Health

This answer was rated:

I do not have any family or close friends to "enforce" my Health Advance Directive. What do I do? Can I have an attorney do this?

Hello Tori,

My name isXXXXX a licensed attorney. Glad to try and help out.

Yes, I'm pleased to say that you certainly can do so. The law allows such practice, which is actually more common than one might think. As long as the attorney is willing to service in this capacity, nothing in the law prevents such a plan. In fact, I can say that I'm also a registered nurse, and I've seen this very scenario. With a trusted and objective (detached, not emotionally "invested") attorney, it takes the difficult decision out of the hands of those close to the patient (where there are such family or friends available), which can actually be a side benefit.

If you have a follow-up question or need clarification, please just say the word by using "reply" to reach me.

I truly hope all works out for you.

Take care,

Ben, J.D.
