I hope this works. My son is the father of a baby born this weekend and is being asked to sign papers at the hospital saying he is the father and saying she has physical custody, This is indiana law. He is scheduled to meet with an attorney on Monday but can't get to see him until after the mother is released from the hospital. Should he sign and then try to change it in court or not sign at all.
Already Tried: father has lawyer but can't get response until too late on Monday
No he should not sign anything admitting to Paternity, since once he does he is committed to being the father of the child AND he has acknowledged that she will be the parent with physical custody. If there is any possible doubt the child is his, then he needs to hold off and file a paternity action and also to work out custody and visitation with the child. Changing it in court after can be more costly AND they may not change the paternity if he signed it voluntarily.
