Statistically, what happens when a man does a divorce pro se? I have been through 2 attorneys over the last 2 years, I am out of money.
Hello, my name is XXXX, X'XX been doing Family Law for 30 years.I don't know of any statistics (I don't know if anybody is keeping statistics), but I can tell you from my experience, you do less well than if you have a lawyer. That is, if you don't have an agreement on all issues. It's just like, which looks better, a carpet laid by a do-it-yourselfer, or by a professional?
I could do more analogies, but you get the point.
Some judges will make an effort to understand what you are presenting and cut you a little slack on the procedures. But they are getting rarer and rarer.
Frankly, most judges look at the file, see that the party has gone through two lawyers, and be predisposed to view that party with a little skepticism.
I know that's not the news you would like to hear, but that's the truth.
Have I answered your question fully, or do you have a follow-up question.
