My granddaughter moved from Miami Fl to Indianapolis to stay with us. She is 16 and we need to get her enrolled in school. Do we have to get temporary guardianship of her? Her mom does not want to do this.

Hello,Thank you for allowing us to assist you with this problem. Yes, you must obtain either guardianship or custody over the child to be able to make educational and medical decisions. Notarized letters are not sufficient because you will need a court order.
