Optional Information: State/Country relating to question: Texas Already Tried: I called the Office of the Attorney General of Texas and a worker told me the case was opened after matinance on the case.
Did you owe child support or spousal support?
Was your ex-wife ever on state assistance?
It was child support ordered by a divorce court. I was 19 in college and when I left college and went to work it was past due, so I made mothly payments but could never get the back due down.
When a parent owes child support to another parent who dies, the child support obligation then becomes payable to the custodial parent's estate. If the State is trying to collect the past due amount, it could be because the mother was on state assistance at some point, in which case, the child support would be payable to the State.
Experience: Divorce, child custody, child support, etc.
