Resolved Question:

My husbands ex filed a petition, pursant to section 16.1-241 (A3) of 1950 code of Virginia as amended. What does this mean? She is in Virginia and we are in Texas. They share custody and she has main custody! Is this for custody or child support? We recieved the papers by certified mail on 04\23\10, but the court date was 04\21\10. What are we to do now?

Hello,

Thank you for your question.

It could be for either or both support or custody. 16.1-241 (A3) is an authorizing statute for jurisdiction for both support and custody.

You may read the statute at this link: http://leg1.state.va.us/000/cod/16.1-241.HTM
