i got married in 2002 . in 2004 i found out my wife had not been divorced from her first husband. they got divorced later that year is our marige legal

No, your marriage would be void because she was already married at the time. However, the defect may be cured as a result of the divorce if she had reason to believe she was divorced to her first marriage at the time she married you.
