Customer Question

Hi there,
Is $600 month fair for Child support? My ex has a good job(making over $4000 a month) and I just want to be fair. We get along fine and I'm just needing a little guidance on this....

It depends on how much you make, and how much time he spends with the kids.

I can answer your question better if you tell me your monthly pay and his visitation schedule, and whether you have daycare expenses, and who pays the medical insurance and the cost. Also it would help to know your State.

We are both remarried and I have another child of my own.....I work pt and make $600 a month. He see's him twice a week for dinner and brings him home after and then has him every other weekend for over nights. He pays medical ins. and we split the costs. We live in Washington.

<- Washington Child Support Calculator

I suggest you run the calculator as well, but my ESTIMATE, based on the numbers you gave me, is $483 per month.

Of course, you can agree to whatever you want. The child support system does not take your new spouse's income into consideration, which we all know is not reality. But if you went to court, you would likely end up in the $450-500 per month range.

$483 a month.....Our friend we know is paying $800 month for his son and he see's him twice a week and every other weekend. Is the amount you came up with not putting into account that I make $600 month VS his $4-5000 a month and I'm the one taking full time care of him....

I just used the numbers you gave me. Sorry you don't like the answer, I will opt out and see if someone else can give you a more fulfilling answer

Is you figure here with insurance figured in here or are you trying for $600 a month plus insurance If $600 a month is inclusive of insurance your number would be about right here. I mean you can ask for $600 a month here. But if you are trying to add on issurance here it may be a little high. But it never hurts to start out a little high and see where it goes here..
