The problem you described is likely to be caused by corneal ulceration after your dog's paw contacted your eye. The sensation will last for 12-36 hours. You can cover the eye and let it rest during that time. In case you noticed a purulent secretion or increasing in pain then you should see your PCP. Let me know if you have any other questions.
