I go town optometrist. He said I have a slight freckle

Customer Question

I go town optometrist. He said I have a slight freckle behind one eye. He said it is important to have a check up every 4 months and have my eyes dilated. I am allergic to the solution and have a reaction, but this does not change his treatment plan. What are other alternatives? I am very proactive in my medical care, and want other options.
JA: When was the last time you had your eyes checked? In general, how has your vision been lately?
Customer: My last eye exam was in February of 2016, the one prior to that was August, 2015. My vision has remained stable, and I am comfortable with my present prescription. However, I just bought a new eye glass frame while on vacation, and want to have my sense re done
JA: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?
Customer: None-no medication, healthy

Hi Dr Ashori here, give me a moment to reply please.

You mentioned that you are allergic to the dilating solution, is that correct?

Usually your optometrist or ophthalmologist can use different solutions or pre-treat your eyes before dilating them. Some pharmacies can custom make formulations to prevent the reaction.

What kind of reactions do you get and how long do they last?
