My wife is having severe pain when she opens and closes her

Customer Question

My wife is having severe pain when she opens and closes her eyes. It is hard to open her eyes and she can't open them all the way. She has blurred vision when they are open. Her left eye is worse than her right. this has been going on for three days and will get slightly better for periods of time.
JA: How long have you been dealing with this? Have you been having any headaches?
Customer: Three days, no headaches. It began after a long day out of doors, we thought she had got something under her contacts or in her eye. but she has washed them out and put drops in with no improvement. also changed out her contacts.
JA: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?

Hi, Dr Ashori here to help you, give me a moment.

Expert:  Dr. Mo replied 1 month ago.

Are her eyes looking red to you? Any discharge from them?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
they do not seem red. She con only open them about half way, very painful. when this started it was only the left eye. and the left is still worse. But the right is and painful and hard to open. no discharge but they are watering.

It could be the cornea, she will need to see a specialist.

She is likely having some light sensitivity and some inflammation of the cornea.

I would recommend having her be seen in the urgent care to have her eyes checked.

In the meantime she can use eye drops, the moisturizing kind.

Make sure she removes the contacts and uses some cold compresses on her eyes to soothe them.
