Ask an Eye Doctor and Get an Answer ASAP
Hello, Welcome to Pearl.com
Are you available for chat now?
Was the eye exam done by an ophthalmologist or an optometrist?
I am available. My phone is charging. Optometrist.
Is the vision 20/20 with the new glasses now?
Was a dilated eye exam done?
Any mention of early cataracts?
I forgot to tell you that the optometrist said I had severe allergies that affect my eyes and he gave me some drops. Didn't work. No mention of cataracts.
Dilated eye exam was done.
I did the full exam and paid extra for a test where they can look deep into eyes.
Alright. You said"Right now my vision feels like someone just took a picture of me with the flash."- Is this experienced all the time or is it intermittent ( occasional) ?
Flash feeling in my eyes is slowly leaving. I can see fine now.
The flash thing just started before I contacted you.
Well that explains a lot of things.... Intermittent flash like sensation is called as scintillating scotoma. It is seen with migraine but the headache may or maynot be present at all times.
Since the eye exam was found to be normal, it looks more like scintillating scotoma.
Usually these episodes last for few minutes to half an hour.
I was getting headaches when this first started, dull headaches. I thought it was because I was squinting. So now I try really hard not to squint and they are better. Yes, these episodes are intermittant just like you said.
Though there is no specific treatment for this, there have been many medicines which have been given for prophylaxis of migraine such as Tab.Propranolol, Tab. Flunarizine and so on.
Actually this goes on for a couple of hours.
Yes, there have been instances where in the peisodes can get prolonged too.
Ok. Should I try to find an opthamologist to get a prescription?
Yes, An ophthalmologist would be able to give this prescription. Your GP can also help you out with the same. As you have pointed out, stress can definitely play a very important role as it acts as a trigger.
Relaxing and de-stressing would definitely help to prevent further episodes.
So a vacation in Hawaii and a drs. exam should do the trick lol.
:) Thank You!
