Hi, I'm online now and would be happy to help you with your question.I understand what you are asking. Just reply and we'll get started. Dr. Tom
Hello Doctor what is it that you need to know ?
Okay now that you are online give me a minute) an answer
. You have described very itchy and sore eyes. And now you have found that your aftershave lotion is causing your nose to run. These are clearly the signs of an allergic reaction. Itching is almost always associated with allergies. You are lucky because there are many over-the-counter antihistamine eyedrops available at pharmacies. If you were my patient, and if your eye examination did not reveal any other cause for your symptoms, that would be my initial recommendation; the use of antihistamine eyedrops. Does that make sense to you?
Yes doctor it does make sense.I remember at my last eye test about 12 months ago i was asked dso my eyes feel sore or gritty but at the time they did not.Do you think the test may have revealed aproblem back then ?
Yes there is probably a relationship between the observation of your doctor and the question about a gritty feeling. That would be a symptom of dry eye syndrome. Allergic conjunctivitis and dry eye syndrome go hand-in-hand. If you get the over-the-counter ocular antihistamine eyedrops you will actually be covering both conditions. But for the gritty feeling alone, a lubricating eye drop, also available over-the-counter, usually controls the symptoms. Do you have any other questions or have I answered your questions to your satisfaction?
