I am a 39yr male. This morning I work up and went to spit in the sink, right after I did so I got the worst headache (pain) I have ever encountered, I ether had to lay down or fall down. It went though my whole head. Most of the pain was in my left temple from my eye to the back of my head. It only lasted a couple of min. I still have a slight headache but nothing big.
I've not had anything like this before and kinda concerned..

Dr. Rick :

Hi. I'm online and happy to answer your question today.

Dr. Rick :

Other then the headache, did you have any other symptoms?

Dr. Rick :

Do you take any medications or have any medical problems?

Dr. Rick :

Good Morning. Welcome to chat.

Customer:

I have had a cold for the past week.

Customer:

No other symptoms.

Dr. Rick :

Ok. That makes sense. It sounds like you have sinusitis. Since you recently had a cold, it is most likely viral in nature and, as such, antibiotics are not indicated.

Customer:

Yes I take some medication, been on them for years.

Dr. Rick :

Usually this clears up on its own but, if you have any other symptoms, you could try some over the counter therapy such as Tylenol cold and flu treatment etc.

Dr. Rick :

Ok., since your medications have not changed in a long time I would not think they are at issue here.....

Dr. Rick :

Your eye is surrounded by sinus cavities and that is why the pain is referred there.....

Customer:

I am taken a antibiotic called Cephalexin

Dr. Rick :

Of course everyone thinks of a brain tumor or aneurysm when these sort of things happen, but since you didn't have any other symptoms -- and since these conditions are very rare -- I don't think you have to worry about them.

Dr. Rick :

Ok. If there you have a secondary bacterial infection the cephalexin should take care of it.

Customer:

Cool thanks for the help. If it keeps up I'll give my doctor a call.
