If the purple spot on the skin is painless, then it is likely to be due to either insect bite or due to a tiny bleed beneath the skin from a subtle injury around that site. Either ways it is likely to subside naturally within a weeks time. If you want you can apply cold compresses for symptomatic relief otherwise there is nothing much you need to do. Chances are that the purple spot will change color to greenish beofre it disappears completely ( this is due to breakdown of the blood products).
