Customer Question

I have a friend visiting London. Had severe headache (not normal migraine; previous common migraine Dx) and pain last night, then worsening pain and blood streaming from eye socket. Went to ER and was told he had an orbital tumor. No biopsy or further diagnosis yet. Is it safe for him to fly back the US to get medical care? Concerned about possibility of aneurysm, not sure of tumor etiology, etc.

Doctor DanB : Hello and thanks for your question. Was this blood actually visible on his face? Did he have a CT or MRI scan?
Customer :

yes, blood running out of eye socket. i am quite concerned. not sure exact Dx method. i would assume MRI or CT. can check with him and get an answer in a 2-3 minutes if helpful

Customer :

i'm calling him now to check

Doctor DanB :

That'd be great, but if what you say is true, then there is danger in him flying as blood may be collecting behind the eye--this can cause increased pressure on the eye which could lead to permanent vision damage. This needs to be attended to before he flies, and really needs to be attended to now if there is ongoing orbital bleeding.

Customer :

had MRI and CT both. told him orbital tumor, no additional Dx

Doctor DanB :

Does what I said make sense?

Customer :

yes

Doctor DanB :

Do you have any other questions about this?

Customer :

no, i suppose not.

Doctor DanB :

You don't sound so sure... Anything you want to discuss or have me elaborate on?

Customer :

no, thanks. just on the phone to london. he will see a specialist, but hard to get that arranged being from the US

Doctor DanB :

I can certainly understand that. I wish him luck.

Your feedback is important to me and will help me improve my encounter with future customers. If at any time you feel this process has been helpful, please rate your encounter with me by providing feedback; any positive feedback and/or bonus you may feel prompted to provide would be welcomed and is appreciated. This does not end our conversation, however-we can continue to discuss any of your concerns without further charges until you are satisfied.

My opinion is solely informative and does not constitute a formal medical opinion or recommendation. For a formal medical opinion and/or recommendation you must see an eye doctor. Thanks for your inquiry!

Customer :

I'm trying to assure you are paid, but apparently this system requires an additional reply and/or a different rating to effect this. This would likely not fly as a legitimate methodology in a clinical trial. Just my opinion.

Customer :

I'm trying to change my rating so as to assure you are paid. If you have any problems in receiving appropriate payment, please refer whomever is responsible to this page.

Doctor DanB :

I will do so.Thank you.
