I have partial loss of vision in the right eye which suddenly happened this week. It shows as a dark half moon shape covering the bottom two thirds of the right eye. Richard XXXXXXXXX

Doctor DanB : Hello and thanks for your question. Are you available to chat?
Doctor DanB : Have you noticed any new floating dots or objects in your vision or flashing or arcing lights in the vision of that eye?
Doctor DanB : There are only a couple of problems that can cause the symptoms that you are experiencing and neither of them are good. If you have new floating spots or dots in your vision or flashing or arcing lights in your vision then I suspect you are having a retinal detachment and you should seek help from an ophthalmologist immediately. Otherwise you may be having a stroke in the eye. For that reason also you should seek the help of an ophthalmologist immediately. Does that make sense?

I get flashing and arcing lights when i blink

Doctor DanB : Yes, this sounds very consistent with a retinal detachment.
Doctor DanB : I would recommend trying to see an ophthalmologist immediately and until you are able to see that doctor, I would recommend to take it very easy, rest, and reading as little as possible. Does that make sense?
