Does the term "pink eye" typically include bacterial conjunctivitis?

Resolved Question:

Does the term "pink eye" typically include bacterial conjunctivitis? I have seen "pink eye" generalized as any form of conjunctivitis, whereas, some doctors are very specific to use the term pink eye for only viral conjunctivitis. Would it be considered incorrect to say "pink eye" only pertains to the viral form of conjunctivitis?

Hi. I'm online and happy to answer your question today.

Dr. Rick :

Pink Eye is used to describe viral conjunctivitis. Using it to talk about bacterial conjunctivitis would not be correct.

Dr. Rick :

Does that answer your question?
