Dr. James :

Hello.

Dr. James :

What can you see out of that left eye? Light, shadows, newsprint?

Customer:

only on the left side corner of the eye and sometimes i do see grey sometimes i do see trough shadows.

Dr. James :

Do you have any pain?
Did it happen suddenly?
Have you seen any eye doctor yet?

Dr. James :

Just saw the part that you saw an eye doctor, what reason did he give for the vision loss?

Dr. James :

hello?

Customer:

cannot read through eye when i close the right eye.i do have pain some times behind the eye, but also on my head , i mean my scalp only on my left side.No i went to the doctor because i was getting some pain in the eye and also was seeing shadow over my eye sometimes. Yes i am seeing an eye doctor now but he could not explain me how come this happen.

Dr. James :

From what you have described, I am concerned for a condition called temporal arteritis. With that severity of vision loss, there should be some findings on your exam. I strongly recommend you seek a second opinion from an ophthalmologist.

Dr. James :

If indeed you have temporal arteritis, you are at risk of having a similar occurrence in your left eye. If there is a high suspicion, many doctors will start you on oral steroids to lower the chance of vision loss in the good eye.

Dr. James :

I recommend you call your eye doctor today or your primary care doctor today to discuss this possibility.

Dr. James :

Do you have any additional questions?

Customer:

Can the eye be saved or is it too late?

Dr. James :

If it is temporal arteritis, the current eye will not likely improve.
