Hi. I'm online and happy to answer your question today.
The only therapy that has been shown to be effective in decreasing your chances of having your dry ARMD becoming the wet type is the vitamin supplements as described in the AREDS study. The ones you are already taking meet these criteria. Other brand names that are good are ICaps and Ocuvite.
If you smoke you should not take the entire AREDS formula as it can increase your risk for cancer. There are formulations specifically formulated for people who smoke.
The other, very important thing for you to do is to check your amsler grid every day as directed and immediately report any changes. Also dilated exams by your ophthalmologist as recommended will help to catch any changes in your macula.
Does this make sense to you?
