If someone initially was awarded SSD for being found legally

Resolved Question:

If someone initially was awarded SSD for being found legally blind secondary to keratoconus and then received corneal transplants, which cure the disorder, should they continue to recieve SSD ? The person I am referencing to also has a valid drivers license and drives a vehicle.

Dr. Rick :

Hi. I'm online and happy to answer your question today.

Dr. Rick :

If the now have a valid drivers license then they better not be legally blind :)

Dr. Rick :

So, I would have to say, first off, I'm glad to hear that their surgery went well and they have regained their sight, and second, no more SSD for being blind. Seems like a small price to pay for getting their vision back.

Customer:

My sentiments exactly. I believe this constitutes Soc security fraud and have reported this to OIG. Thank you or your time.

Dr. Rick :

My pleasure.

Dr. Rick :

And, now, the obligatory word from our sponsors: :o)
