Dr. James :

Hello.

Dr. James :

.

Dr. James :

Do you have any eye pain?

Dr. James :

Any change in vision?

JACUSTOMER-pe1krh85- :

Not really and no changes in vision. Eyes feel a little itchy

Dr. James :

Do you wear contact lenses?

JACUSTOMER-pe1krh85- :

No i dont. i wear glasses to see long distances like when am driving

Dr. James :

The redness can be related to dry eyes or allergies.

Dr. James :

Being in a different environment can change the dynamics of your tears.

Dr. James :

THe bacicoline eye drops is a combination steroid antibiotic.

Dr. James :

You may just benefit from artificial tears alone.

Dr. James :

Concerning signs are worsening pain, changes in vision.

JACUSTOMER-pe1krh85- :

All am experiencing at the moment is itching, not to major but slightly uncomfortable

JACUSTOMER-pe1krh85- :

and reddness of course

Dr. James :

That is more suggestive of allergies.

Dr. James :

The steroid in the Bacicoline should help that.

JACUSTOMER-pe1krh85- :

I also tried maxidrol but not very effective

Dr. James :

Maxitrol is a similar steroid/antibiotic combination.

JACUSTOMER-pe1krh85- :

do you think i should go back to the opthamologist and try the artificial tears or something

Dr. James :

You should certainly try artificial tears.

Dr. James :

When did you last see him?

JACUSTOMER-pe1krh85- :

Last week tuesday. am just really worried i picked up some eye disease in africa. I do usually have allergies but not like this

Dr. James :

The common things should be treated first.

Dr. James :

There are not many unusual eye diseases.

Dr. James :

Trachoma is the most common.

JACUSTOMER-pe1krh85- :

well he suspected conjuctivitis

Dr. James :

So, you can return to him and ask if there is any other stronger antibiotics.

JACUSTOMER-pe1krh85- :

trachoma is most common in this area? what are the signs and symptoms

Dr. James :

More common outside the US.

Dr. James :

Symptoms are usually just like a conjunctivitis.

Dr. James :

redness, discharge, itching.

JACUSTOMER-pe1krh85- :

I live in australia and havent experienced it till i got to rwanda. I have no discharge just itching and reddness

Dr. James :

You may go ahead and ask to be treated with an oral antibiotic just in case such as Azithromycin.

JACUSTOMER-pe1krh85- :

is there any stronger Antibiotic eye drop you could recommend

Dr. James :

Possibly using a tetracycline eye ointment.

JACUSTOMER-pe1krh85- :

as am on doxycycline for prevention of malaria

Dr. James :

That may work as well.

JACUSTOMER-pe1krh85- :

Alright then thanks for your help

JACUSTOMER-pe1krh85- :

will try tetracycline
