I have the following concern:

By accident, I stare at welder welding some metal. I saw the white spark, but I immediately turned away my eyes. Of course, I was kind of far, I would say about 200 to 300 ft. It occurred where my car is being fixed. Should I be worried about eye damage?

Dr. Rick :

Hi. I'm online and happy to answer your question today.

Customer:

Thank you

Customer:

as my question says, is there any risk for eye damage

Dr. Rick :

No. There is no need to worry. You will be fine.

Customer:

I haven´t had an eye exam in more than a year

Customer:

so that´s why I worry

Customer:

I wear glasses

Dr. Rick :

If it seems like you are not seeing as well out of your glasses as you used to, you may need a new refraction but it is not because of getting flashed by the arc welding.

Dr. Rick :

Does this make sense to you?

Customer:

yes of course...it´s just ever since I was a kid I was told to never look at the arc welding. so I kinda freak out

Dr. Rick :

And that is good advice but the brief flash you got from so far away won't hurt a thing.

Customer:

oh ok, i´m more relieved now

Dr. Rick :

My pleasure.

Dr. Rick :

And, now, the obligatory word from our sponsors: :o)
