double vision..no effect, she had her eyes tested today and was refd

Hi,
My wife has faded and double vision for approx 4 days, she has been to our doctor and he has gave her "virtigo" tablets with no effect, she had her eyes tested today and was ref'd to the local hospital, any ideas to what may be the cause?

What do you mean by her vision would "fade"?
