My 7 year old daughter had a cat hair in her eye last night,

Resolved Question:

My 7 year old daughter had a cat hair in her eye last night, and we were able to get it out. Her eye instantly felt better, and the tearing up had stopped. It seemed to be just fine. This morning when she woke up, her eye was fine, but throughout the day it has worsened, and has turned an overall pink color on the white of her eye, and is producing tears. No pus or mucous, just tears. When pulling the botXXXXX XXXXXd back some, it is more red than usual. She says there's no pain at all or discomfort, and her vision is fine, not blurry. What should I do?

Sounds like she has some mild conjunctivitis. You can try natural tears and cold compresses.

Hi, thanks for your help in advance. I'm not sure what I should do about her eye? it was fine this morning, but throughtout the day has gotten pink and has slight swelling.

How do Iknow if an infection is setting in, or if she has scratched it?

Dr. Rick :

She doesn't complain of any pain, correct?

Dr. Rick :

a scratch would be painful

I just didn't know about an infection maybe, since it was from a pet hair.

Dr. Rick :

She might need some antibiotic eye drops if things don't look better in the morning.

Or you could try and call her peds MD and see if she could prescribe some cipro eye drops, one drop 4x/day for 5 days
