I've always had floaters in my eyes, but lately there have been so many as to be annoying. My ophthalmologist said it's a medical thing, but I'm wondering if it will eventually cause vision impairment.
Hello,

Welcome to Just Answer

Floaters in the eye could be due to posterior vitreous detachment( PVD ) which can cause traction on the retina and sometimes cause small tears in it. Since your ophthalmologist has already examined your eyes , I assume that a detailed retina test was done and no abnormality was detected. When the floaters are many and frequent and impair routine daily activities, then vitrectomy surgery may be needed.

Otherwise , a regular annual eye check is enough.

Thanks and best wishes
