I am 78 and started to get stabbing eye pain on either eye,

Resolved Question:

I am 78 and started to get stabbing eye pain on either eye, but only one eye per occurance, maybe only once every couple of days. Today had a stabbing pain in/on my right eye as woke up. I can put my finger on the pain which seems to be on the outside of the top of my eyeball.

Is the vision affected?

You should also see an ophthalmologist for examination. Glaucoma and sinusitis are other possibilities which need to be ruled out. Raised eye pressure may be causing these symtoms. You could be having narrow angle glaucoma. Examination is important to rule this out. Thanks.
