Broadly, there are 2 types of glaucoma- narrow angle glaucoma and open angle glaucoma. In narrow angle glaucoma, a person may have attacks of glaucoma causing pain, redness, blurring of vision, watering etc. In open angle glaucoma, the rise of eye pressure is gradual and so there may be no signs and there is gradual damage to the optic nerve of the eye. In the early stages there is damage to the fibres from the fibres from the periphery of the retina. So, the peripheral vision is affected first and central vision may persist till very late stages. Eye pressure measurement, field charting, optic disc and nerve fibre layer analysis, gonioscopy etc are done when glaucoma is suspected. Thanks and best wishes.
Torn retina means that there is a tear in retina and retina is not yet detached from the inner layers. When fluid seep between a retina, it detaches the retina from the inner layers and retinal detachment takes place. Both are rerepairable though a retinal tear has a better prognosis. Thanks and best wishes.
