Hi, I am wanting to get lasik on my eyes. I have a polyneuropathy

Resolved Question:

Hi, I am wanting to get lasik on my eyes. I have a polyneuropathy and am treated with Lyrica and Intragam infusions. I am 39yrs old, my eyes have stayed the same since the age of 18. Would my condition hinder my ability to have this treatment?

HelloCustomer

It depends on the cause of the neuropathy. If it is inflammatory, like Lupus, etc., then that is a relative contraindication to LASIK.

It also depends on how stable the condition is. If it is continually flaring up, you may want to wait until it is quiet.

It also depends on how extensive the neuropathy is. If it affects the facial nerves or corneal nerves, then you probably should not have the surgery.

Hope this helps and thank you.
