Customer Question

I got married in the States. I later moved to Italy and got divorced from my husband here. How do I get my divorce transcribed in the States? Can I just get it done at the U.S. Consulate here or should I hire a lawyer in the States?

Hi

Abogado3044 :

You do not need a lawyer in the States, once you got the divorce sentence you can go with it tranlated to the closer US consulate in Italy nd it will have all the effects in the States

Abogado3044 :

Once you have done it you will be a divorced person, unmarried, in Italy and in the States

Abogado3044 :

You will have to leave in the consulate a copy of your pasport and a translated copy of the divorce sentence
