Have an Infiniti point contract - just told we can get out of it in 5 years time by paying £7k otherwise our children who are on the contract will have to pay maintainence fees for the rest of their lives at whatever rate Petchey decide to levy - is this legal please?

It really depends on what is stated in the initial contract regarding bailing out... It is one of the most important clause to study carefully when signing any contract. They cannot modify it unilaterally. And you must have the possibility to re-sell your contract - if you find an interested buyer.
