I received a save the date card for a wedding. on this card, after listing the registires, they added- Donations accepted for celebration and honeymoon.I have never seen this and it strikes me as quite odd and inappropriate. am i just out of the times?
-- You have never seen this and you never should. It is highly inappropriate and in better circles of society it would not be done. One cannot advise propriety to one who is not interested in learning and unasked for advice is infrequently well received. Meaning: You can't do anything about this except ignore it and act on your own standards for gift giving in this event. Now, as for having seen this before in questions I address here and discussions in courses and demonstrations I give - I am afraid that yes, more and more 'young people' are doing this AND since more of them are doing it, more of them are finding it acceptable. --- I would hope it doesn't catch on and given the growing number of adults interested in honing proper etiquette (and including their children) it's possible that it will ultimately be dropped for the more traditional behavior.
