That can be done too, however, the record from the application might cause higher premium rates, so it would generally make sense to first to try to amend / correct the application and documenting the issue by sending a written explanation of the error and request to amend the application by certified mail with return receipt and if the insurance company chooses to ignore such request, then cancelling the policy and applying for new one with another company can be an option.
