Reside in Fla. Friend in Va. wants us to handle estate upon

Customer Question

Reside in Fla. Friend in Va. wants us to handle estate upon her death. No living relatives in U. S. Estate funds and her jewelry to niece in Germany. House and contents plus car to sell. Is this too much for our situation or should we recommend she change her will and leave with local Va. law office. How difficult is this?

Serving as a non resident executor is somewhat difficult in VA.

It would require that you post a surety bond and retain a resident agent. Whether or not that is too much for your situation is up to you, but it is easier to have a local fiduciary handle things rather than do it from out of state.
