Customer Question

My husband passed away 10 years ago. I want to refinance my home and want his name removed from the title. He died in Oakland County Hospital so his death certificate is registered in Oakland County Register of Deeds. My home is in Macomb County. DO I NEED TO REGISTER HIS DEATH CERTIFICATE IN MACOMB COUNTY to have his name removed from the title? Please advise. Thank you.

You do not need to register it where already registered. You should have proof of registration and then execute a new deed.
