Ask an Estate Law Question, Get an Answer ASAP!
Hello and thank you for the question. I am sorry to read of this dilemma.
You can have one will covering all property in both countries or you can have one for each country
either way works
if you choose to have two wills, each should reference the other.
Let me know if that is clear.
What is your recommendation taking into account that the US assets are joint assets between my wife and I and the India assets are mine alone. A joint will for US assets and an individual will for India assets?
I would have 2 wills
one in each country
given different manner assets held
As I am US citizen, I will have to register them both in the US....correct?
And then Notarize, Apostile and Certify at Indian Consulate, for the India Will?
i wish you the best.
Can I do both Wills on LegalZoom.com and register in Minnesota?
I would suggest through local counsel
I do not recommend form based sites
martindale.com and findlaw.com are good directories for it
Thank You InfoLawyer, for your help. I will return if I have additional questions.
