JD_1992, given that time for administration expired in 2006, how would my stepmother go about "proving" that I owe her for the mortgage principal (and other debts)? Is there a time limit under TPC section 37?

I don't know of any time limit that would allow her to collect those amounts. A probate must be filed in 4 years otherwise no probate, testate or intestate, can be filed. There would also be, at the most, a year statute of limitations under any other cause of action in Texas.
