Resolved Question:

Howcan I find out if my sister had a will drawn up? I don't know
If she had an attorney or not. State of residence: Washington

Hello. If your sister has passed away, whoever is holding her will is required to file it in the local courthouse in the county where she resided. If a will has not been filed, the only way to determine whether she made one is to look through her things in an attempt to find one. Since wills are personal and are not required to be filed until the person passes, there really is no other way to know whether one was created.

What do I ask for / what dept would I go to in the county
To find out if a will was filed?

You can call or visit the probate department in the county courthouse. The probate clerk can tell you if a will was filed.
