It really depends on what all the attorney has to do. For example the number of heirs, is there a will, is there real estate, etc. Usually you can expect it to run between 2% and 5% or the gross estate. Fees vary so shop around and try to get a flat fee.

We have been quoted $30000. There is a will, no property to be sold, a few accounts that have already been consolidated into an estate account, seven specific monetary distributions. In addition there are five heirs (includuding three charities and two individuals) who will receive a percentage of the estate. Are we still in the category of reasonable?

That is reasonable but you may be able to find someone that will handle it in the 20,000 range since it appears to be fairly simple and if there are not a lot of outstanding bills.
