What are the inheritance rights of adult children under SC law?

Children can be disinherited by their parents in SC. There is no right for a child to inherit if the will provides otherwise.

If there is no will, the rights of the child to inherit depend upon the marital status of the deceased parent.

SECTION 62 2 102. Share of the spouse.
The intestate share of the surviving spouse is:
(1) if there is no surviving issue of the decedent, the entire intestate estate;
(2) if there are surviving issue, one half of the intestate estate.
