Is Kevin Costner accepting screenplays?
Optional Information: Country relating to Question: United States State (if USA): Montana Already Tried: I have tried searching for the producer Kevin Costner to see if he is accepting screenplays from the 1850-1900's era.
Hello and welcome to Just Answer. I cannot tell you if Kevin Costner is currently looking for a screenplay to produce, but I can direct you to his representatives and his production company. Does your screenplay take place in the US ? For more in depth information, I will use my resources as a Talent Agent to gather inside tips, although I cannot guarantee that any currently exists. It may take 24 - 48 hours to get a read on what projects he or his production company are pursing . If you need an immediate answer, I will be happy to suggest another expert. Please advise how you would like me to proceed.Best,Veronica41059.7687263079
Thank you, XXXXX XXXXX like the info on his production company or associates.
My screenplay is a true story as close a can be determined, and is on the life of my greatgrandfater, the son or a Civil war vet, and frontiersman, who becomes a cowboy on the Chisholm Trail in the early 1870's, at 15 years old. His life expanding from cowboy, trail blazer, Laramie Plainsmen, pi,oneer, homesteader, cattleman. A true love story, that the pony express and a weasel postal clerk could of messed up. Humorous, and sad..my story is "Transcending Times". American history!!!!

Hi Jaclyn,I am a personal fan of US Historical Fiction and in my opinion, you have a solid and salable script. With that said, have you ever thought of converting it to a novel ?It is commonplace for Novels to have an automatic screen option built in to contract at time of signing with a Publishing House. Therefore, if the book takes off, they already own all rights to what could be a very valuable commodity ( which is why you need a good Agent to negotiate....) even if it never goes to production. As I am sure you have observed over the last decade, franchises such as Harry Potter, Twilight, Vampire Diaries, Hunger Games ect.... have become screen blockbusters and the highest grossing movies to date. All were born on "the shelf" first. My thought is, if you really want to see your Screenplay go to production, one avenue may be to start at the publishing level first. Off course this is your baby and you haveyour own vision, and I respect the direction you see fit. I am just brainstorming ideas. In terms of submitting your work you MUST own " Hollywood Creative Directory." It is the Hollywood "Roladex" of Industry contacts for script pitching. They attemptedto launch an on-line version, but sold off their database. You can acquire a digital or hard copy version by visiting these links:http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=Hollywood+Cretive+Directory Buy it on amazon - http://www.amazon.com/Hollywood-Rolodex-Valuable-Industry-ebook/dp/B005DU7VXG/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1338522533&sr=8-1-spellThis should be your starting point and I do agree that your script is right up KevinCostner's alley. This is my own "How to Self Market Guide":Step 1: In order to create a buzz about your subject matter, my best advice is for you to contact your local radio stations and try to get booked as a guest. Hopefully, they will be supportive in helping a local writer. Also check out Sirius Satellite and see what programs are about American History and submit yourself to be a guest speaker. If you succeed, you can use blurbs from interviews as part of your presspacket. The goal is to get your name and your family story out there. Step 2 : Do the same as above with your local news and cable channels. Step 3: Have Facebook page and twitter account with a link to a website that promotes your story. You might even include a daily diary written as your Great Grandfather. Include as much information as you can about your family history. It would be great to include photos and points of interest from that time period. Step 4: Research all of the professionals you are pitching to whether is is Kevin Costner, a Production Company, or Producer, and follow their twitter. In turn, they may start following your account ! Again, it is all about getting YOUR name out there. When your script crosses their desk, you will already seem familiar. Step 8: Contact Professors at the top Universities where the Civil War Era is a course. It is very easy to email Professors and see if you can give a free in person or skype presentation. Use the College "youth", the most prized demographic in marketing, as your own personal focus group. Get feedback about your story, their likes, critiques,ect..... You have no idea how useful a tool it can be and you are again, building anaudience.Step 9: Do at least ONE marketing pitch each dayStep 10: Remember, you are your own best Agent. You have the most passion about your project. Use that energy and enthusiasm to generate a buzz and awareness everywhere you go ! I am still in the process of searching your local area and if I find any useful information, I will post back. I hope my advice gives you some focus on where to start. I would love you to succeed in this venture and don't forget to enjoy the adventure you are about to embark on. If you need any clarification or have additional questions, please start a new thread and write " ForCustomerOnly."Cheers XXXXX XXXXX future success,Veronica I wish you the best of luck in your endeavor.41061.1944113773
I left out one more idea. Is it possible to convert it to a series ? Period serialsare hot right now and there are many cable and even on-line companies such asNetflix and Hulu that have the money to produce. Not sure if you were a fan of Deadwood, but it enjoyed many years of success.V
