Customer Question

I have recently just purchased a future steel building A30 x 34 x 18
I just found out that the snow loads in my area are 3.1kpa and the building is rated 1.1kpa
Is there anyway I can still build it and just reinforce it somehow

I can help

That's a significant difference in loading. Who determined the building should be designed for the lower load?
Customer: replied 3 months ago.
I purchased a building three hours south of where I am and it's proper loading area that but because I'm in a Snow belt area my township has the highest rating probably in Ontario

They sell buildings in sure all over. I would ask them to provide the proper size building and pay the difference in cost. That will be MUCH less expensive than engineering and installing reinforcement.
Customer: replied 3 months ago.
I purchased the building privately so no return I called the manufacture yesterday and the cost difference would be an extra 15,000
I may just have to bite the bullet and try selling this building to someone in that area

Reinforcing the building will probably be as expensive as buying a new one. The labor involved is significant
